Building a House in the Wilderness TIMELINE

It might sound unbelievable, but BUILDING THE HOUSE takes THE LEAST TIME of all work and human resources required when building in the wilderness (in case of the latest ODYL House).

WHY? Standardised, optimised solutions are quick, whereas tailor made solutions require more human resources and time.

Most important generic factors that influence BUILDING TIMELINE

Plot initial situation

Plot preparation for ODYL House

Many X-factor location plots are in natural environments: trees, bushes and several land height differences.

Regulations

Contract signing

Stunning locations can have restrictions for land usage or require approval from local governments and/or environmental agencies.

Plot access

ODYL plot no access

Many X-factor location plots have no existing necessary access for building installation.

Which details take the most TIME?

Terraces and stairs

Terraces and stairs

Terraces and stairs add considerable amount of time to the building process, especially when the plot has height differences.

Roads and lots

Roads leading to the ODYL House

Planning and building different roads, pathways and lots takes time in the pre-building phase for access and post-building phase for fixes and preparation for landscaping.

Landscaping

House exterior

Landscaping takes longer when the ground is newly created and would require cleaning, seeding, planting (in our case also bringing tons of ground stones and mulch.

Extra details

ODYL terrace with hammock and hot-tub

Non-standardised extras from extra lights to a hot-tub bar require extra planning, projecting and building time.

"Difficult" access

Entrance

Differences in plot heights and distance from access road mean materials and tools need to be moved up and down, back and forth which takes time if there is no direct road access.
