We love being in the middle of nowhere

We also love having running water and a well-designed, warm house

The Beginning

Like many founder stories, ours starts with a problem without a solution. Katrin and Gabriel wanted a holiday home …

Working from home, we felt that we needed an occasional escaping place for a change of environment. We started looking for one. After some weeks of searching for plots in the real estate portals, we realised that the ones with the X-Factor and an acceptable price were in the middle of nowhere and had no utility connections. As much as we would love to believe that we could handle traditional type of OFF-GRID living, having 2 little kids, lots of work and a busy social schedule, the rational answer was a definite “no”.

What happened then? We had recently just finished our own house project together with Margus and Maarja who owned an engineering-building company. Sharing our new ideas with them, it turned out that they had been thinking of something similar.

5 days later, we started mapping out our ideas and principles for our ideal off-grid house in the wilderness.
